Technical section:

23. On my GPS it says 'Cannot Unlock Maps'. What is the problem ?
You do not have a valid unlock code in your map file on the GPS.
If you load your card into another person's GPS then you will get this message and the maps will not be usable, as the maps are unlocked for one GPS only.
If these maps are meant to be unlocked for your GPS then ensure that you have entered your unlock code into your MapSource software (see 24) and then reload the GPS or memory card (see 26)

24. I have installed OZtopo V2.1 on the PC but in MapSource it says 'Map Detail Locked' near the zoom scale in the bottom right corner and it does not display detailed roads. What is the problem ?
You do not have a valid unlock code entered in your MapSource PC software
In MapSource v6.14.1 or later select;
    Utilities (top)
    Manage Map Products
    Unlock Region (rear tab)
    Add
    Type in your OZtopo V2 25 digit unlock code
    OK
    Close
In MapSource v6.13.7 or earlier select;
    Utilities (top)
    Unlock maps
    Next
    Select "Yes, I have a 25 character unlock code", next
    Select "I have a 25 character unlock code. I will type it in", next
    Type in your OZtopo V2 25 digit unlock code, next
    Close

25. I am trying to enter my unlock code but MapSource is unable to start the unlock wizard. How do I fix this ?
Some versions of MapSource had a problem with the unlock wizard. See also FAQ 40
Download the latest version of MapSource v6.15.6 from here, install it and the unlock wizard should now work.
See also FAQ 40 and FAQ 41

26. How do I load OZtopo V2.1 to my Garmin GPS or memory card ?
Start the MapSource program on the PC then;
Ensure that you have entered your OZtopo unlock code (see 24).
To load the maps you will then need to;
    select the Map Tool (odd shaped rectangle)
    select all the map segments you want from OZtopo V2.1 Roads
    change to OZtopo V2.1 10m Contours (drop down box in top left)
    select all the map segments you want from OZtopo V2.1 10m Contours
    'send to device' (GPS with arrow towards it)
MapSource will build an index file on the PC, then build a map file on the PC and then load the map file to the GPS. This may take 60+ minutes depending on your PC.
For an video overview, see the Garmin MapSource video by clicking here

27. When running MapSource on my PC I cannot see contours and roads at the same time
The drop down list at the upper left of the MapSource window contains the following entries:
    City Navigator Australia NT 2009
    No Map
    OZtopo V2.1 10m contours
    OZtopo V2.1 Roads
    Trip and Waypoint Manager v5
    (or similar display)
Did I do something wrong in installing the OZtopo V2.1 DVD to miss out on the "combined layer" ?
No nothing wrong. The standard install gives you what you have seen, two layers, Contours and Roads.
For the combined layer there are two options;
1. run the install procedure again and select "Alternative installation options" then "Combined Layer - for PC use only"
or
2. run C:\Program Files\OZtopo V2.1\OZtopo Combined 2-1.exe

41. MapSource V6.14.1 or later and OZtopo V2.1 or error message:

If you are running MapSource 6.14.1 or later, or you receive the error message as above, please download and run OZtopo_MS_Patch

Instructions:
    Install OZtopo V2.1
    Upgrade MapSource (either via download or via the Help option in MapSource)
    Do not launch MapSource at this point - you'll get an error if you do
    Download and run OZtopo_MS_Patch
    Restart MapSource

You can confirm that you have installed the patch correctly by looking at the date of
C:\Program Files\OZtopo Combined 2-1.exe . It should be 11/11/2008 10:48pm

Note MapSource V6.14.1 is VERY slow. This is NOT a result of OZtopo (try viewing the PC Basemap or City Navigator).
You need a 2GHz+ CPU and 2GB of RAM to make it reasonable.
We recommend upgrading to 6.15.6 which is available from here

You can use this patch with MapSource V6.13.7 if you decide to go back to this version.
